Bang Bang Shrimp

Like a certain someone has said, “Shrimp is the fruit of the sea”. Shrimp is delicate, sweet, and the first to run out in buffets. Bang Bang Shrimp is a very popular appetizer in most restaurants, and for good reason! Most of the reason being because it’s shrimp, but for real, it’s crispy, tangy, and flavorful with a nice kick to it. For home cooks, it’s fast, and really easy to prepare.

Chef Matt gives a detailed, but succinct video on how to prepare this popular dish. Obviously a man of fine taste, Chef Matt fries the shrimp on a beautiful cast iron pan. If you don’t have one at home, remember not to overcrowd the pan too much. As Chef Matt has remarked, you can always adjust the spiciness of this dish with some sriracha or Thai chili sauce. Just be mindful not to add to much, or you’ll wind up with Bang Bang Bang Shrimp, instead.

Ingredient list

1/2 - 1lb large peeled and deveined shrimp

1/2 cup mayo

1/4 cup sriracha

1/4 cup sweet thai chili sauce

1 - 2 tsp soy sauce

1.5-2 cups cornstarch

2 beaten eggs and 2 tbsp heavy cream or half/half

Season corn starch to taste with salt, pepper, onion powder.

Where do I get these?

Most of these ingredients can be found in almost all groceries.

What others are saying.
