"He’s The Most Difficult Player To Guard, 365 Days A Year, 7 Days A Week. Roy Has No Weakness In His Game."
- Kobe Bryant
Brandon Roy was an efficient and lethal scorer with explosive athleticism and a playstyle that would have transitioned smoothly into today's game. Along with a young LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland's future was bright and poised to make waves in the Western Conference. Brandon Roy's career was, unfortunately, riddled with injuries, and on December 10, 2011, he retired, just 5 years after he was drafted.
Join Dr. Brian Sutterer as he dives deeper into the injuries that plagued Brandon Roy's career; the what could've been's; and alternative treatments that would have helped prolonged Roy's career.
“Tore my ACL almost 5 years ago, but after the surgery and all the therapy I am in better shape than I was before. Your point about the knees going inwards is so crucial in therapy and training so yeah, it's ridiculous that he was getting that. My therapists and trainers basically retrained me so that I would run and jump normally instead of my original ways of having the knees concave in. Crazy how a trainer can make such a difference.”
