While a paragon of healthy cooking, Rachel herself isn’t above giving her family a sweet treat, once in a while. Everything is best enjoyed in moderation, anyways. Can’t have something moderately if you literally never have it. Well, whatever reason you tell yourself for enjoying something cloyingly sweet, one thing is for sure--whatever you can buy at the store will be many times healthier if you make it at home!

Ingredient list

For the pastry.

  • 2 cups all purpose flour 241 grams
  • 1 tablespoon sugar 11 grams
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold butter 227 grams
  • 2 eggs separated; one for the pastry and one for the egg wash
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk 28 grams

For the filling.

  • 2 1/2 ounce packages freeze dried strawberries
  • 1/2 cup boiling water

For the Frosting.

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk

Where do I get these?

Most of these ingredients can be found in almost all groceries.
