Banh Tet Recipe for Vietnamese New Year

We take a rest from our cooking journey and head to a more familiar place and setting: indoors!

Celebrated on the same day as the Chinese New Year; Tết is the most important holiday in the Vietnamese calendar, and it would not be complete without Bánh tét. It is made from sticky rice and has enough varieties to cover both the sweet and savory ends of the spectrum. During this time, even travellers like Vuong Anh come home to their families to celebrate the New Year.

Holidays are a great opportunity for families to cook and work together, and it seems that beauty runs in the family as Vuong Ahn's mother joins her in making Bánh tét. At the root of it all, cooking should be fun, and cooking with family and friends should be all the more enjoyable.

What others are saying.
